Double Clutchin’-When’s The Last Time NASCAR Had A Great Moment?
May 15, 2008
Let me explain.
I just finished reading Joe Garner’s, book-Speed, Guts, and Glory: 100 Unforgettable Moments In NASCAR History, and while I found it an excellent read, it also turned my thoughts in another direction, and prompted me to ask the following question:
When is the last time that NASCAR had a truly great moment? And by great, I mean a moment so big that it transcends the sport and becomes the talk of the entire sports community. Something so big that ESPN actually spends time talking about it, instead of Read more

Tonight’s race at Darlington was a great way to get to know Kyle Busch .
If someone who had only a cursory knowledge of NASCAR and it’s drivers, tuned in to the race Saturday night, they would have had the privilege of seeing every facet of Kyle Busch’s racing persona. Read more

Double Clutchin’-Did Kyle Mean To?

Of course I’m talking about Kyle Busch’s crashing of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in the final laps at Richmond. To answer the above question: Of course he did.
Kyle Busch lost any credibility with me a long time before Saturday night’s bumper car play with D-88. If this were any other driver (not with the last name Busch) I’d be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I don’t buy that the car was that loose; it was too much of a coincidence, and even the folks in the booth were having a hard time sounding like they believed that it was an accident. I mean, it just so happened that Kyle got loose, and it just happened to be with the guy that took his ride and his spot? Sorry Pollyanna, there is no tooth fairy, and Virginia there is no Santa Claus. Kyle did what Kyle does. Now that I’ve said that piece, let me make my real point. Read more

First off, a thank you to Josh and the good folks here at FastMachines, for giving me the opportunity to talk a little NASCAR with you fine folks. But rather than jump right in with opinions about tonight’s race, I thought it might be a good idea to let you fine readers know a little bit about me, and let you decide for yourself whether or not you want to read these articles in the future (if there is a future, I mean, hey, the folks here could come to the realization that I suck and toss me out on my rear). Tony Stewart is at it again. The anti-media man has now managed to get his contract negotiations into public view. Perhaps it’s not his fault the media got hold of the story about Tony’s multiple contract negotiations. What I really mean is these negotiations invariably have a lot of twists and turns when it comes to Stewart. For now, everybody’s along for the ride until an extension beyond 2009 is signed or Stewart moves from the Joe Gibbs Racing team.
Here are — according to one man’s opinion — the top ten most likely career moves by Stewart at the conclusion of his current contract at the end of the 2009 season. Read more
