Flogging Fernando!
July 1, 2003
Sorry fans I am still, more than ever, convinced Fernando Alonso will win this year, and what better place than Renault’s home GP at Magny-Cours. The advantage of testing prior to the race may be HUGE this year due to the circuits track surface. Extremely smooth, it is very sensitive to temperature and the pre-race testing may prove a vital edge in tire selection.
Motivation high for home Grand Prix
Eddie and the DoDo’s

If Eddie Jordan believes the head line of the attached story,”F1 needs the small teams”, he is already extinct like the DoDo and don’t know it!
Coulthard on notice
July 1, 2003
David Coulthard has been a very poor qualifier this year and a rather decent racer. If he had the opportunity to start at the front of the grid by qualifying better he may yet win a race. That is if management allows him to continue.

Kurt Bush had an interesting weekend in Germany. His connections with Ford may some day land him the test he secretly desires.

Nice summary description of this weekends winners and losers at the European Grand prix.
Michael the Magnanimous
June 30, 2003
As previously pointed out in other articles Michael is accquiring diplomatic skills in his latest world championship quest. Unlike his testy early years (remember his run-ins with Damon Hill, on and off the track?) he is now demonstrating a level of tact not usually seen in Fromula 1. His allmost praise like description of Juan Pablo’s pass is most commendable, unlike Coulthards whining over his own stupidty.

Kimi Raikkonen finally showed some emotion this weekend; unfortunately it was anger at losing his engine just 25 laps into the European Grand Prix. He is still hopeful that he can make up the ground he lost.

Kimi feels the rage
Michael advanced his points lead due to Kimi’s retirement, however he could have advanced further if not for a late race tangle with Montoya that spun the champion. However, Michael actually admits to being at fault in this incident and has defended Montoya’s move in the face of criticism from Ferrari team members.
Ralf’s win in Germany and several recent podium performances from both Williams drivers make Juan Pablo Montoya firm in his affirmation that Williams could fight Ferrari for the title this year.
David Coulthard has placed strong blame on Fernando Alonso for breaking too early causing the Scot to crash off the course to avoid hitting Alonso’s car. Alonso has denied fault and was backed up by his team principal Flavio Briatore. McLaren managing director Martin Whitmarsh accused Alonso of giving Coulthard a “brake test”.

Ralf Schumacher wins Williams 1-2
June 29, 2003
Ralf Schumacher won a Williams 1-2 finish at the Nurburgring. The race was an absolute heart breaker for Kimi Raikkonen who started the race from pole for the first time in his career only to have his engine fail him on lap 25 while holding a six second lead.
The other big news of the race was contact between Juan Pablo Montoya and Michael Schumacher in which Michael spun and had to be aided back on course by the marshals. This was deemed legal because he never stalled the car. Juan says he gave Michael room. I’m sure Michael things differently….

Karting Capers in Kerpen
June 28, 2003
Nuerburgring, 26th June - In the occasional free moments during today’s preparation for the start of this grand prix weekend, all the talk among the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro boys and girls is of what fun they had yesterday. Wednesday prior to the Nurburgring race has always meant just one thing since 1998: a team karting evening at Michael Schumacher’s family track in Kerpen, an hour’s drive from here. The kart track where Michael and his brother Ralf cut their racing teeth is now a thriving business, but on this one day it is reserved exclusively for the Scuderia….
