Transition teams rock Indy Car St. Pete qualies

Tony Kanaan qualified for the pole position, and Will Power qualified along side on the front row for the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. You read that right, former Champ Car team, KV Racing put Will Power in the front row in only their their second race in the Indy Car series. Just Wilson, of Newman/Haas/Lanigan racing, another former Champ Car team, qualified third. Today’s session also served as the debut of Indy Car’s new qualifying format for road courses and proved to be very exciting.

Junior wins Samsung 500 pole in Texas

To the vocal delight of his many fans here, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. won the Coors Light Pole Award for Sunday’s Samsung 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. His lap of 28.286 seconds at 190.907 mph in the No. 88 National Guard/Amp Energy Chevrolet gave him his first pole since Pocono in August 2007, and his eighth in 298 career NASCAR Sprint Cup races.
