IRL completed testing in Kentucky this week with many complaints about the track surfacing.
Jackass: The Driver
June 20, 2003
Why o’ why can’t Eddie just leave well enough alone? Eddie Cheever needs to stay the hell out of the car and develop his racing team. But no, of course since the engine development deal with Menard blew up (probably because Menard realized what a egotistical jackass Eddie is), this ding dong thinks he should be driving again!
Bumpy Kentucky Speedway
June 20, 2003
After the recent IRL test at Kentucky Speedway many drivers are highly concerned about the bumps in turns 1 and 2. Speedway officials agreed that the constant freezing and thawing this winter did cause changes to the track. However they will not do any repaving before the IRL race in August or the NASCAR Truck race in July. They may however enstate rules to slow the cars and compensate for the added danger of the bumps.
Dario done
June 20, 2003
Dario Franchitti, who just returned from missing three races due to motorcycle induced back injury will now miss the rest of the 2003 IRL season. Apparently there will be another surgery needed to full repair the damage he did to his back and make him 100% for the 2004 season. Heartbreaking for Dario…and the people who like to watch him.

How does this happen?
June 17, 2003
How do you go from winning the championship for the past two years in a row….to barely finishing races? Sure they have much better competition in the series this year, but not THAT much better. This is embarassing. Chevy needs to get their act together ASAP! See the link below (FIFTH IS A FIRST FOR CHEVY)…

Dixon wins Pikes Peak
June 15, 2003
I told ya dat boy good! Dixon is the Kenseth of IRL. Never makes a lot of noise, but he is always there ready to take advantage of a situation and put himself in victory lane. And I don’t think there would have been a great deal of challenge from Kanaan even if the race finished under green.
And how about that great Scot Dario? A fourth place finish after sitting on his ass since early April isn’t bad!

On Target
June 12, 2003
Racing one has a peice on the Target team. I love the disparity between Tomas and Scott. I really want to like Tomas. His hard charging style is exciting to watch, but he really needs to calm down a bit and bring one home for the sponsors. Whereas Dixon is fairly smooth, yet can make moves and charge for a lead when he needs to, he just needs a little luck. I think it is pretty obvious that Chip Ganassi and Target are not putting the same level of investment into the IRL program they did the Champ Car team. I think all the extra cash is going over to NASCAR. Bit of a shame….don’t you think?
