All RuSPORT Front Row In Mexico
Written by Josh Katinger · November 5, 2005
Briton Just Wilson put in a fast lap late in final round qualifying today to steal pole position from his RuSPORT Racing teammate A.J. Allmendinger. Allmendinger will start tomorrow’s Gran Premio Telemex/Tecate Presented by Banamex from second position thanks to his provisional pole yesterday.

This is a fantastic way to start the final weekend of the 2004 season for RuSPORT. This season has been a breakout year for the young team with Wilson taking a pole in Portland and a win in Toronto while A.J. was on pole in Edmonton, but is still looking for his first career Champ Car win. If he’s looking for a better chance than this I don’t think he’ll find it.
2004 and 2005 series champ Sebastien Bourdais will line up 3rd behind Allmendinger, but was actually second fastest in the final qualifying session. Behind him will start his arch rival Paul Tracy. A Paul Tracy with nothing to lose is a dangerous man. And Seabass has clinched the championship already, so he’ll be more than willing to mix it up with Paul too. Look for a rough and tumble first few laps.
On a sadder note: it is common rumor that this race will be last start for 1996 series Champion Jimmy Vasser. He’ll roll off 10th.
