Champ Car Files Suit Against Montreal Promoter
Written by Scott Keller · August 31, 2006
Champ Car is not going out quietly in Montreal.
The Three Amigos are expressing their displeasure with Normand Legault, and his handling of the 2005 Molson Indy’s sanctioning fees. It’s a long story, full of complicated contracts, and details which you can read at SpeedTV.com and globeandmail.com.
The fact that Champ Car exists is a testimony to the ability of the Three Amigos to win in court. I hope they win again. It’s a shame that Champ Car won’t be able to race there again in 2007. It’s even more of a shame that they are getting replaced by the slow, lumbering NASCAR Busch Series cars.
Boogity, boogity, boogity, that sucks.

Face it, the fact that they are going to court over 325 grand is strictly to punsh the fickle Monsieur Legault. The bigger issue is the inability of the series to find race presenting sponsors and promoters. From what I read Molson may pull the plug on the Toronto sponsorship as well.
Ahhh… I love the smell of sour grapes in the morning.
Funny how some things work out isn’t it?
CCWS bid adieu Monday with its last Montreal event and 48 hours late they file suit over a measly 300 grand.
Bet: within 2 years the Busch Series will be drawing larger crowds than CCWS did.
That may be true Marc, but you have to remember that the snake Legault ceased all promotions before the 2004 race, and even removed grandstands to devalue the importance of the race, all for his own ends.
He is entitled to run the series of his choice and if its not Champs that’s okay. His means of ending the contract with Champs is shameful at best.
