Confirmed: Servia To PKV
Written by Scott Keller · March 9, 2006
Oriol Servia will team up with Katherine Legge.
Finally, there is some justice in the world. Spanish sensation, Oriol Servia, has landed a full time ride with a top team. Servia proved his talents and abilities last year as a “super sub” for Newman-Haas after Bruno Junqueira was injured at the 2005 Indianapolis 500. Servia finished strong in almost every race, and won the event in Montreal. He finished second in the Champ Car World Series points last year.
It is amazing to me that the driver who placed second in points in 2005 is getting a ride so late in the year. It shows just how difficult it really is for Champ Car teams to put together deals with sponsors. Newman-Haas wanted to keep Oriol as their third driver, but could not find funding.
Now the question is: Will Jimmy Vasser come out and drive at Long Beach for a final hurrah? The rumor mill is in full swing.
