Dalziel Dumped

PCM Motorsports has signed “Mexican Superstar” Mario Dominguez.
Mexican superstar, that’s what Pacific Coast Motorsports dubbed the Mexican in their press release today. He’s more Mexican than super star, that’s for sure, but that’s what will put him in the field for the upcoming Mexican race.
In Mario’s defense, he is a solid driver with two Champ Car wins, and should have been in a full time ride this season. But the series continues to repeat the mistakes of the past. The driver line up continues to be ever changing, a revolving door of check writers that get their rides based on their nationality.
The series teams and leadership tell us that they “have to have Mexicans” in the race for the upcoming race in Mexico. Of course, this is probably true only because Champ Car doesn’t stand on it’s own as a premier series. But what is so ironic is that Americans get called “xenophobic” for expressing our desire to see a few more of our own get a shot in the “American” based series.
I feel bad for Ryan. He’s had a lot of rookie mistakes, but has also shown some speed. Perhaps he can find a way back to the series in 2008. If not, he’ll be another driver that is developed-and-dumped by the series. It’s called being “Philliped”.
