Junqueira Suffers Vertebrae Fracture in Indy 500 Crash

Written by Josh Katinger · May 29, 2005

Champ Car race winner last week, hospitalized this week. Bruno Junqueira will most definitely miss this coming weekend’s Champ Car race in Milwaukee due to his Indy wreck that caused a concussion and fractures of his T-12 and L-1 vertebras.

From Newman/Haas Racing race report

According to Dr. Henry Bock, IRL and IMS senior director of medical services: Bruno Junqueira has been diagnosed with a concussion and fractures of the T-12 and L-1 vertebras that will require surgery on Monday. He is stable and in fair condition at Methodist Hospital. Junqueira was unavailable for a statement.

IRL-Live: Junqueira and Larry Foyt injured in accidents

I’ve already rumenated about how stupid and uncessary this injury was…so I’ll spare you doing that again.

Sorry Bruno - get better soon.

Good to hear that your feet appear to have missed the damage (there were reports that the footbox was severely damaged)

So who are they going to get to replace him while he heals? Champ car can’t afford to lose a car.

Vitantonio Liuzzi is available. Red Bull should find him a ride in the Champ series.

Got something to say?
