Korea Preparations Under Way, Unification Wishes, Get In The Inner Circle
Written by Scott Keller · March 4, 2005
Champ Car’s race in South Korea is coming together as track is being prepared. Meanwhile, SPEEDTV.com has another article about unification in open-wheel racing. Champ Car also announced that you can register for free to join the “Inner Circle Fan Club” in 2005.
Champ Car To Seoul
I must admit that I was a little bit suspicious about the scheduled Champ Car race in Seoul, S. Korea. I figured it was going to go the way of the “Super Prix”, but I seem to be wrong about this one. The AP reports today that ground was broken in preparation of contruction of the 1.9-mile race track in Ansan City, about a 45-minute drive from the capital of Seoul. I guess I won’t totally admit I was wrong, but it only takes a shovel full of dirt to complete a ground-breaking ceremony.
Reunification: Rehashed One More Time
SPEEDTV.com’s Steve Olson has an article that is well written, full of truths, and is overall a very good article. It actually is an article that mentions that the IRL is opening their season at Miami-Homestead this weekend, and how many empty seats there will be . He brings up the old subject of how bad reunification is needed. While a couple of years ago, I would have agreed, I now think it is time to move on. Champ Car needs to keep moving forward, and forget about a race that is a “has been”. The Indy 500 is now the second most important race at IMS, thanks to the damage done in the last ten years. I don’t think Champ Car has much to worry about by missing the Indy 500, or much to gain by reuniting. Humpty Dumpty won’t go back together again, and I am just trying to get excited about the Champ Car season to come. I have sighed my last sigh about the state of open wheel racing in America, and have long ago let go of my reunification dreams.
