Portland 2008 Race Is Still A Possibility?

The Champ Car World Series is trying to salvage one of their traditional races at Portland International Raceway in 2008.
The Oregonian reports this morning that Champ Car and Portland International Raceway are still trying to work out a race for 2008. This comes on the heels of an announcement that Champ Car is going to release their 2008 schedule in October. That doesn’t leave much time to solidify the schedule, and make sure that two or three races don’t have to be removed again next year if arrangements fall through.

However, if Champ Car can keep this race on the calendar and get some promotion done, it offers some continuity to their schedule, and is one of the few remaining links to their heritage as the former-CART. Combine that with the fact that it is one of the few natural-terrain road courses on the North American portion of the schedule, it means that it is a worthwhile race to fight for.
