Red Bull To Sponsor PKV Third Car in 2007, Wants Christian Klien To Drive

Written by Scott Keller · August 31, 2006

Christian Klien has been given an ultimatum by his main sponsor, Red Bull: Either drive a Champ Car in 2007, or find a new sponsor.

Klien apparently doesn’t want to live in beautiful Indianapolis, IN, so this deal may be dead before it is even started. I don’t really blame Klien about Indy. I was born in central Indiana, and Indy isn’t exactly a happenin’ place. But it is the center for American Open Wheel Racing, so he’ll just have to deal with it.

I think Klien may end up realizing that his chances of getting back into F1 will have to run through Champ Car, and come to his senses. He’ll be driving for a top team, and it the best of equipment. Even better, he’ll still have a job.

If he doesn’t take the job, rumors of Dario Franchitti keep surfacing on the net. I’d welcome Dario back to Champ Car, although I would rather see some top Atlantics guys come up the ranks.

No matter what, having Red Bull as a new team sponsor is a great thing for Champ Car.

Top team? Ask Katherine & Oriol just how “top” they feel!

Got something to say?
