Vasser Enters Long Beach Field

Jimmy Vasser will be the third entry for PKV Racing at Long Beach.

SpeedTV.com reports today that 1995 CCWS Champ, Jimmy Vasser will enter the Long Beach Grand Prix. This will be great for the fans, and a great send off for Jimmy. PKV racing co-owner Kevin Kalkhoven also hinted at the posibility of Jimmy driving at San Jose and Road America.

Personally, I think Jimmy is too young to retire. The series could use some familiar names as it stretches itself into 2007 where the new chassis rules kick in. I just don’t know how excited the American racing fan is going to get about watching the “big names” like Norbert Siedler and Gareth Ridpath?

I’ll be in Long Beach in April, and I’ll be there rooting for good ol’ Jimmy Vasser. We all know he has no chance against the Newman-Hass / Forsythe cabal, but it will still be a lot of fun to see him race Long Beach one more time.
