Why the IRL will run road courses

The ensuing article has opened my eyes to some interesting business situations that may force the IRL into considering and accepting road racing, as soon as next year. The obvious is a merger between the IRL and the entity known as CART, regardless of the supposed buyout pending.

Even if CART folds and goes bust, the IRL will look to pick-up the prestigous Long Beach race and add it to it’s schedule. Problem is Dover Motorsports owns the rights to Long Beach, AND Denver, AND St. Petersburg. I don’t think it would be in their (Dover’s) best interest to give up Long Beach without covering Denver and St. Pete.
