America’s Driver Talks to Fastmachine’s Allan Brewer

Twenty-six year old Phil Giebler drives the Team USA entry in the A1GP series. The Oxnard, California native has provided the team with the consistency and smarts necessary to produce a winner in its second year of operation.

Phil began his career in karting, achieving a rare international ranking for an American driver. He followed that success with even more impressive runs in the French Formula Renault series and national F3 competition in Germany, England and Spain, topped off with a wintertime Audi Cup championship.

Over the last three years Phil has been at the cusp of the highest level of racing. He’s prepared himself by piloting cars in the Toyota Atlantic, Indy Pro Series and now A1GP.

One of the brightest young American stars to appear on the horizon, and with his eyes fixed toward a future in big-time racing, he took time out from the A1GP holiday break to talk to Fastmachine’s Allan Brewer about his season.

AB: Phil it’s great to speak with you. How were your holidays?
PG: Good. I had some time to spend with my family, and then it’s back to work on the car.
AB: Phil, you got your start in karting. How did that prepare you for your racing career?
PG: International karting in Europe allowed me to race against the very best drivers

I just started watching A1GP this year and I like it. I like the format, I like the commentators, and I like the cars. The last two races in the rain have been very entertaining. I have my DVR set to record every race.

    GO TEAM USA!
