And All Was Right With The World
Written by Josh Katinger · March 5, 2004
That self satisfied grin really says it all, doesn’t it? It is finally the official start of the 2004 F1 season down in Aussie land and of course…are you ready for this…you’ll never guess…the Ferrari boys blew everyone away right out of the gates in the first two rounds of practice.
In these frightening times of social unrest in various parts of the world, religious controversy running rampant, and Howard Stern being muzzled by the US government, it’s so comforting to know that some things never change. Just as long as the red cars are running up front…everything will be ok.
I had such high hopes for a competitive season…

Not that many americans know or care…, but if this becomes the 2004, much like 2002, trend I will have another 2.5 hours available on my Tivo.
Here we go with guessing why the big difference in times. Was everyone practising with the same fuel loads? I would say very close to race conditions. Are the other teams de-tuning the engines for durability? Maybe. Are the McLarens and Williams cars that much slower? I don’t see how. Will qualifying turn out differently? Yes, only if it stays dry. All in all an interesting start to the weekend, especially for Jenson and BAR.
Don’t forget the engine rule changes that may have an effect on these times.
