Button Ballyhoo Aside, Ferrari Still The One To Beat
Written by George Katinger · August 10, 2004
Yes, the Button Brou-ha-ha has been a very interesting diversion. Grand soap opera of the highest order. Now that the August break is over the stark reality of Ferrari and Michael Schumacher’s dominance still remain unchallenged.

itv-f1.com: FIRST EVER RAIN AT THE HUNGARORING?
In spite of the posted articles headline, the conclusion of the story leads one to believe that the hope is thin and the possiblity of any team other than Ferrari in P1 at the end of the Hungarian GP slim to none.
While it is true Ferrari and Bridgestone stumbled badly at last years Hungarian event, it was due to the inadequacy of the tire’s grip in hot weather and the cars inherent inability to quickly change direction due to its extended wheel base. This years car has corrected those defects, though the tire has yet to be tested in severely hot conditions. Not to mention the huge “Head” advantage Ferrari maintains over the rest of the paddock. No, not Patrick Head, but the mental advantage of seemingly being able to triumph in all strategic situations. Ferrari have won on two, three, and I still can’t believe it, even a four stop strategy.
The only test not presented to Michael and Company has been a wet race. Maybe we’ll be blessed with rain and get to see “The King” do his thing in the wet. It’s been so long that I’ve almost forgotten Schumacher’s skill in the wet, and it would be interesting to see one race competed in less than sunny conditions.
Sorry Jenson, your 15 minutes of fame are up. If you want more attention you’re going to have to earn it the old fashioned way; on the top step of the podium. Wouldn’t that put a knot in the gut of Dave Richards and a smile on the face of Mr. Williams!!
