Eddie And The Arabs

No, its not a new rock band breaking onto the scene. It’s Jordan Racings potential buyer, the royal family of the Emirate of Dubai.

sportnetwork.net: Talking through the Jordan rumours.

We have previously heard the rumors about Jordan possibly in discussion with the royal family of Dubai. The other teams mentioned are Jaguar, Minardi, and BAR. If Eddie is intent on maintaining control of the team then he will never sell out his 51% majority share as he would become just another hired hand subject to termination. As long as the fire burns to race, Jordan will go it as the owner.

My prime candidate for takeover is BAR. With tobacco losing on every front of the sports sponsorship, and with David Richards a rumored candidate for FIA president (a rumor started by me!), BAR is very ripe for a sellout. Ford may be searching for a gracefull way out of F1, but a sale of the Jaguar brand out of it’s British market would not make sense. And from an investment perspective, Jordan could be purchased for less, although more investment would be needed to get to the front of the grid.

With BAR knocking at the door of F1 for a top 3 finish this year, with Honda factory backing and two quality drivers, they would be the best blend of success and potential for a buyout. We would then have Jenson “Lawrence of Arabia” Button and Takuma “Banzai” Sato driving for an Arabian owned team. Can you picture next years roll out of the new car? I’ll leave that vision up to your fertile imaginations!
