Listen To Webber, Frank!

Maybe Mark Webber will live up to your expectations, Frank. Only if you get away from the “Old School” attitude that your drivers need to beat each other to a pulp. Ask Juan and Ralf how much fun racing for you was!
speedtv.com: Frank Williams Sings Webber’s Praises
When the ace of your team (and currently the only signed driver) comes out and says Pizzonia doesn’t deserve a seat at your team, you’d better listen. Unless you relish the thought of your co-drivers wrecking each other in the name of the competition you profess to foster. Keep “Jungle Boy” out of the seat and sign up Coulthard for a year, or Davidson for two to three years, anyone but Antonio!
The notion of teammates racing each other is a concept that Ferrari has retired quite nicely, thank you very much. Todays objectives are win at all costs, regardless of the perceptions. And in hind sight, if Ferrari knew they would win both titles so handily, would they have released their drivers to go hammer and tong against each other? I don’t think so. They would have done exactly the same, until both titles were secured.
But there was no preseason inkling that Ferrari would be so dominant, was there? The entire racing establishment expected Ferrari to crash and burn (figuratively) and lose both titles. Which of course they did not.
So, give up your antiquated notions of sport, sign up Coulthard in support of Webber and race to win in the 21st century, not in the 20th. I promise you’ll enjoy it immensely!

Much as I hate to say it, George, I think you’re right. Ferrari have shown absolute contempt for the rules on this issue for many years (ask Eddie Irvine). FW really wants to be the gentleman but this sport is also a business that is even more competitive than the racing. Signing Coulthard for a year won’t give any race wins ‘cos “wee Davey” is long past his sell-by date. But it might motivate Mark properly until JB comes on-board in ‘06. Also DC knows what a top car should feeel like and would be an asset in testing. This is not the year to bring in a rookie for a single season. Pizzy is a good test man and spare driver so would be a top choice for a new team later on.
