One Win, And The Blather Begins!
Written by George Katinger · August 31, 2004
While suffering severe angst over West McLaren Mercedes F1 racing’s dismal start to the F1 season, I knew there was something I was not missing!
news.bbc.co.uk: Raikkonen targets Ferrari
sport.guardian.co.uk: McLaren to tether prancing horse
planetf1.com: Dennis accuses the FIA of favouritism (again)
planetf1.com: Dennis hopes Spa win signals the start of Ferrari’s decline
I guess after having to keep his gaping pie hole shut for months on end, Ron Dennis is just not able to contain himself anymore! From accusing the FIA of favoring Ferrari in the upcoming rules changes, to gloating over his ONE victory this year, to concluding that Ferrari is now on the skids to….god only knows what else!
Hey Ron, show some class and act like you’ve been to the podium before. You and Kimi “Sonic the Hedgehog” Raikkonen should take a deep breath and concentrate on Monza. I know most of the comments are out of context and mostly for show, but please win at least one MORE race before declaring the king is dead. He just might rise up from the grave and bite that fat head of yours off at the neck!
With the coming of Juan Pablo next year and a consistently competitive car I am looking forward to cheering on the house that Bruce McLaren built, in spite of Ron. Who knows, if he persists in being a twit I may have to switch my allegiance to Frank Williams and Jenson Button?? Jeez, what am I thinking?!? Fernando, Taku, Jarno, or even JV if he ever returns, but NOT JENSON!!

Spot on, and I agree that many of these comments are simply for public consumption. While I am ecstatic to see real competition between the teams at Spa, reading Mr. Dennis say that the FIA has tailored the 2005 rules to favor Ferrari due to their reliability seems a sad joke. Perhaps his concern stems more from the apparent inability of McLaren to engineer and build cars which can finish more than 70% of the races. Hopefully he will see the wisdom of putting more of his energies into matching and, who knows, possibly *besting* Ferrari at this, rather than deriding them for their commitment to excellence. Sir Frank Williams certainly seems to appreciate this, while noting how little he likes it coming at his team’s expense:

Here’s hoping Mr. Dennis has more chances this season to receive a nice champagne shower!
