Ralf Schumacher wins Williams 1-2

Written by Josh Katinger · June 29, 2003

Ralf Schumacher won a Williams 1-2 finish at the Nurburgring. The race was an absolute heart breaker for Kimi Raikkonen who started the race from pole for the first time in his career only to have his engine fail him on lap 25 while holding a six second lead.

The other big news of the race was contact between Juan Pablo Montoya and Michael Schumacher in which Michael spun and had to be aided back on course by the marshals. This was deemed legal because he never stalled the car. Juan says he gave Michael room. I’m sure Michael things differently….

Ralf wins? Damn good thing he didn’t have to pass anyone to assume the lead. He “inherited” the lead rather than taking it. Only good part of his race was the start, and the fact that he didn’t screw the pooch like Juan did in Australia!

Got something to say?
