The Loss Of Jordan Racing

Written by George Katinger · January 27, 2004

Is Jordan Racing better off without Eddie at the wheel? Maybe. Would a major car partner like volkwagen allow the team to survive and possibly thrive? Absolutely. Would F1 ever be the same without Eddie? Never!

Maybe it’s time to say the unspeakable. F1 NEEDS to loose another team or two to bankruptcy, to shatter the illusion that all is well in the sport. Minardi and Jordan are the obvious targets struggling with money woes, so just let ‘em go.

The loss of Minardi may not be mourned loudly or for long, but loosing Jordan, with a third place finish not long ago (1999?) would be tragic.

crashnet.com: Jordan may be better off without EJ, says Watson.

I like this idea of VW/AUDI/Porsche teaming up with Jordan. It certainly does take a leap of imagination to think how Eddie would get along with German partners but who would they put in his place? Who knows better how to wheel and deal in the competitive atmosphere of F1? You never know, maybe the new Cosworth engine will be a killer and it might rain at all the races.

VW/Audi, maybe. Porsche is too smart to enter into a money pit of a sport without a direct marketing payback. And remember the the golden rule. He with the gold, rules. Corporations will always have a top bean counter in charge of their money, regardless of who “runs” the team.

Couldn’t agree with you more on Eddie’s contribution to the game and his continuing relevance. If only he could come up with the cash!

Got something to say?
