The Mosley Spin Machine Begins To Whir

Written by George Katinger · May 1, 2008

You didn’t think the FIA special meeting in Paris was scheduled so late without a reason, did you? Max Mosley knows why, and it had nothing to do with getting the voting members to agree on a date.

The June 3 hearing and vote on Max’s tenure as FIA president has everything to do with Max having the time to twist arms, bend ears, and generally apply his “charm” to anyone who will listen. Max has been amazingly quiet the last couple of weeks since the tawdry affair came to light and his admission, yes, that’s me in the video.

Well the quiet phase of his defense is over and he’s moving on the offensive. The first volley of his proactive campaign has been fired by one Radovan Novak, the head of the Czech Automobile Association. And the basis of this proactive campaign by Novak is to cast suspicion on a party involved in “last year’s spy controversy.”

Gee Radovan, could you possibly be implying that “party” could be Ron Dennis? Novak has been described as an ally of Max Mosley. He sounds more like a paid spokesman to me. A spokesman who is using the art of deflecting criticism of a troubling action by diverting attention elsewhere. In this case it’s who could have paid for the elaborate surveillance of Max the Masochist? What better subject to toss into the fray then Ron Dennis?

Ron has issued a vehement denial of all suggestions it was him or anyone from McLaren. That’s all well and good; trouble is Ron has a bit of a credibility problem, doesn’t he? Seems like the same words we all heard last year while Ron was defending McLaren in the Ferrari IP usage case. So, from Max’s side of the fight it would at first blush appear to be a sound strategy. Similar to Max’s assertion that what goes on in private is nobody’s business but his own. Deflect the attention away from the act and cry “poor me”, my privacy’s been violated.

Back to Radovan Novak. In a subsequent rebuttal to Ron’s request for clarification of his comments, the Czech states:

“I wouldn’t like to talk about what kind of set-up it was, but I believe it was a set-up, because of what happened recently. When the FIA, from the proposal of Mosley, fined someone significantly, then it gives you the feeling that it could be like that.”

Despite the letter and the strong denial from McLaren, Novak told the Czech Press Agency on Thursday that he stands by his comments about the Woking-based team.

“It’s definitely one of the possibilities every intelligent person has to consider,” Novak was quoted as saying by the agency. “But maybe Mr. Mosley already knows who is behind it.”

Novak then goes on to shill the idea that there is a 50-50 chance Max may pass the secret ballot vote of confidence. Well Rad, it’s nice to know Max still has friends he can count on one hand willing to speak up for him; but it won’t alter the fact that he’s a walking anachronism awaiting his place in the dust bin of history. No matter how much Max’s spin machine whirrs, clicks and sputters.

Article 151c, from the Concorde Agreement, to which Mosley is a signatory: “Bringing the sport into disrepute. Any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the interests of any competition or to the interests of motor sport generally.”

    O.K. George I’ll bite.
Who was it who said I should let past posts go? Then what is this being repeated time and again in your current posts?
” Article 151c, from the Concorde Agreement, to which Mosley is a signatory: “Bringing the sport into disrepute. Any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the interests of any competition or to the interests of motor sport generally.”

Since it’s time to relive history lets all join hands and sing the praises of Mclaren’s astonishing performance early last season, considering they didn’t win a race the previous season..
Then let’s all reveiw the comments made by a certain golden boy after last weeks race “The Ferraris’s seem to be easier on their rear tyres than we are…”"

Now lets reveiw how a car can be easier on their rear tyres.
    Setup, setup, setup.
We should also review how that “setup”was acheived.

O.K., we don’t have to go through the entire list of last year’s posts right now. But the current controversy has all the earmarks of the same element as last year. Setup, setup, setup.

Let it go George. Look forward to the bright future of Le Toad as president, Ferrari 2 seconds up on the field and dennis the menace facing possible criminal charges which should put him in the same category as Maxine. Did dennis the menace step down when he was charged with “Bringing the sport into disrepute. Any fraudulent conduct or any act prejudicial to the interests of any competition or to the interests of motor sport generally.” No he didn’t, it seems he has possibly brought the sport into more disrepute by outing Maxine’s personal live. I have always agreed with you that Maxine has damaged the sport more than any one person in the history of F1 and he needs to be expelled. But I disagree with the method currently being used to do it.

P.S. On the bright side. Did I mention that Ferrari seem to have a significant advantage right now?
    Setup, setup, setup.
I don’t beleive any of Maxine’s rules have gotten them to this point. But maybe Le Toad could make up few new ones that can help.

McLaren paid a significant price for Ron’s lack of supervision of his employee(s), 50 million bucks last I heard. What price has Max paid, other than 2500 bucks for 5 hookers? Every piece I write about F1 will have that little reminder at the end until that two faced poser is gone from the FIA.

There could be no “set up” of poor Max if he kept his pants zipped up.

As for Ferrari, looks like a done season for the rest of the field, I only hope it’s Kimi rather than Felipe who wins the Driver’s title.

As for Le Toad, his first official act will be to “punish” whoever Max designates within the paddock as having set him up. It’s never the criminals fault for wrong doing, they just happened to get caught.

Speaking of old posts; I remember writing weeks ago that we should ignore this Ron Dennis organised it nonsense.

However, [now-jumping-down-the-rabbit-hole] even if Ron Dennis was the source of the video……………..SO WHAT? How does that change the facts? How does that portray Max in a better light?

How Max’s “private” activities became “public” is not the point, they are now in the public domain. It is fair & reasonable (except in the mind of Max & at least two flunkies) that the international head of a body such as the FIA be held to degree of accountability that the president of any large organisation is held to. It is perfectly reasonable that FIA members object to his holding of the highest position in the FIA.

Max’s refusal to face the consequences of his actions has morphed from turning himself into an international laughing stock into a reflection on the FIA & motor-sport as a whole. How can such a man possibly be the President of the FIA, a post that comes with huge responsibilities ? ……………he cant!

Despite whatever support he can garner from his “defenders” I still maintain that a majority of 220 delegates will eject the arsehole from the FIA on June 3rd. Max is only stalling the inevitable.

In fact, with his back against the wall, Max is emulating his parents hero in the final days of the bunker. Surrounded by a grim reality on all sides, making grandiose statements, lost in a looking glass world of delusion, self righteousness & denial.

Way to go Max, Mum & Dad would be proud!……………….”Auf Wiedersehen dickhead!”

what does someone’s personal life have to do with his daily job?
if you all are so convinced that anyone who is a postion to govern others has to have a personal life that is devoid from anything that some people find perverse, I suggest you all go sign up with the taliban or some other religion that bans any kind of deviant behaviour, which includes alcohol. Then maybe we would all agree that maxine’s behaviour is deviant enough to bar him from his job.
I doubt there are many detractors that have squeaky clean personal lifes, being consumption of alcohol to extra marital affairs or what ever someone else can consider deviate. I’m sure that all of you just have sex in the missionary postion just for the sake of procreating.
Why not admit that it’s not about the sex scandal, it’s about you not liking maxine for what he’s done to mclaren last year.
That is an excuse I would beleive. The rest of the rantings are pure farcical.
Grow up and get with the present, it was just sex, a little different than your sex life, but no animals were hurt in the filming of this video, or you would really have something to rant about.
See Alan Jones’s comments yesterday, he feels this was a setup pure and simple. He also says who he thinks is behind the setup. I hope le toad goes after who ever is at the “bottom”of this setup and bans them for life from the sport, which should have happened in the first place.

    Mo,

Max has been caught on film performing in a sex circus with highly questionable scenarios involving punishment and at the least prisoner games. If you don’t want to believe the Nazis angle. Now if you can’t see how his deviated private life has a direct impact on how he conducts his office as president, then there’s nothing left to say.

I’m hard pressed to reconcile your defense of the proven pervert and your willingness to blame Ron Dennis for the surveillance based on the misguided statements of an obvious as kissing Max Mosley pal. The guy has no proof and just tossed off a statement that said it could be Ron, after all, Max just spanked him, hard, last year. We’ve all had that random thought, I’m sure.

If you think Max should be allowed to stay as president for whatever reason, I can understand that. But wait until we have some solid evidence that it was Ron who hired the people to catch Max before you toss him under the bus.

Oh yeah, where do I find the Alan Jones comments? A link or direction to the source would be appreciated.

“You’ve got to ask yourself: how come there was a camera across the road that saw him go into the establishment; and how coincidentally there was a camera inside recording it all?

“I think he was set up.”

    http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/04052008/58/exclusive-jones-backs-mosley.html

This was only one of the articles printed quoting Alan Jones. I will search for other quotes if you need convincing that there are people out there that think with their brains, not their hearts.

Dude, I feel for you and your favourite team. Since it seems they may be sliding back to the performance of 2006, I understand the attacks totally unrelated to racing.

I can’t wait for Maxine to go also, but for different reasons than his personal life.
He has been Bernice’s henchman for too long, he has done the FIA a severe disservice with the contracts he shoved down their thoats.

But to continue to go on about the nazi angle to this story is the reason to defend him. It was a setup, pure and simple. If it were you who had been setup (not saying that you would so lucky as to have a sex party with five good looking babes) would you just step down from your job and hide in the corner waiting for your mommy to spank you?
Is there any proof that Maxine requested the attire or did he just turn up being promised a good time with a happy ending?

Mo your missing the point entirely. Let me ask you one question.

Can Max (after this) continue his duties unhindered? Hello? He could not even enter the nation of Bahrain. How the f**k is he going to present a forum on safety at an industry/government body? He will turn the office of president into one of ridicule.

Seriously Mo? Could you sit in the front row of the Detroit motor show, surrounded by the auto industry, while Max was the keynote speaker……& not shake your head at the ridiculousness of the man at the lectern.

Regardless of the fact that he is an arrogant arsehole, with a “eccentric” private life, he can’t possibly be the head of international motorsport.

  10. Peter Gillespie on May 5th, 2008 12:48 am

Mo………if this was a set up there is no way the instigator could keep it under wraps, remember Watergate or Monica…….it always comes out. Further, Max would be crying the name from the highest mountain if he really did know the culprit.

The easiest explaination is the hooker(s) wanting to make a buck & NOTW being prepared to pay for it. Max’s face is a household feature in Britan so he was an idiot for thinking that the girls might not be tempted to cash in.

Alan Jones is entitled to his opinion but common sense says there is no dark conspiracy led by Ron. BTW, what’s A.J’s stance on the moonlandings? Let’s keep it real. I love a good conspiracy theory but this one has no meat on it.

  11. mo ron on May 5th, 2008 10:20 am

Funny that you mention Watergate or Monica. Let’s revisit those scandals.
The timeline for the watergate affair I don’t remember exactly, but I doubt Nixon resigned immediately after it went public, but he did resign(being a republican and generally a decent person).
Bill Clinton is the shining example as to what course Maxine should take though.
How many times did Clinton deny his involement? Wagging his finger at the american public on naionwide tv. Then the evidence was produced, yet he still denied it had anything to do with his job. He was impeached, yet continued at the helm until his term was over. Do you remember the famous democrap line at the time? “it was only sex”. The fact that they are both lawyers leads me to believe he will follow the Clinton path.
So dark conspiracy or not, why don’t the same rules apply here?
Did Clinton go off into the sunset and count his millions? It seems there are idiots out there who pay him millions for his appearances at their functions.
Yes Maxine will be keeping a lower profile at some events, but his day to day job back in the FIA boardroom where all of his friends are will continue until he deems it time to step down. Now the only question will he follow the Republican morals and step down soon or will he follow the Democrap doctrine saying it was only sex and continue until the end of his term?
My hope is he will step aside in June. Then Le Toad can make a bunch of rules to help Ferrari continue down the path of glory.

I agree with all of you 100% that he needs to go. But for the raping of the FIA not for the dress up party he was drawn into.

  12. George Katinger on May 5th, 2008 3:45 pm

Thanks for the links mo, let me toss out one of Alan’s lines that pinpoints the problem:

“The only crime he committed was being caught.” If there was nothing wrong with what he was doing, why is his set up defined as being “caught”? You only are “caught” if your doing something that is perceived as wrong. If he was a paradigm of F1 virtue, he would still have to resign for being “outed” if you prefer that term as opposed to being caught.

Was he set up? Absolutely! And some day we’ll hopefully find out who and get to publicly thank them!

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/67166

The spinning is reaching high gear now! The FIA has hired an attorney to determine if there is any validity to the Nazis claims to Max’s sexual circus. A finding will be reported to the FIA delegates at the 3 June hearing.

And if this so called “neutral” barrister finds there is no validity to the claim, will that give the delegates reasonable doubt to support Max in office for the remainder of his term????

    Spin, whirr click!!!!

  14. mo ron on May 5th, 2008 9:26 pm

June 3 can’t come soon enough for me.
We could just skip the month of May for all I care. But if we did that we may miss some more pics of Danica in a swimsuit, or with luck even less.

My tin foil hat says it was Michael Andretti behind the costume partys.
He used Danica and the Tecate girls to try keep Super Aguri afloat $5000 per party. Then one of the Tecate girls (we know it wouldn’t be Danica because she wants a F1 Honda ride and shifting Button over to Super Aguri would open that seat for her) got greedy and sold the tape to NOTW. If it weren’t for that Super Aguri would be racing this weekend. Can you imagine the line to get into their transporters? Just bring cash please.

Got something to say?
