Turmoil At McLaren?

Written by George Katinger · March 16, 2004

According to inside sources at McLaren F1, there is great dissension over the lack of performance of this years F1 car. The focus of the concern? None other then Ron Dennis. The back biters within the team are attributing the cars failure after one race to Ron’s lack of attention. That alone must be an indicator of how bad the car really is, and how difficult the fix must be.

f1-live.com: Ron Dennis comes under-fire

The rumors are that Ron has been otherwise occupied with getting the new technical center up and running, and possibly getting the Mercedes-McLaren SLR super car out the door to customers. And obviously, from other news we’ve read, he has been busy trying to figure out why NASCAR is so profitable and popular, when F1 has the “superior show”….as in Melbourne?

It all sounds like the actual people responsible for developing the car and engine (Mr. Newey, Mr. Haug) are leaking tidbits of gossip to deflect criticism elsewhere. If the car continues to be a dog, you can bet there will be wholesale changes at Woking, implemented by Ron, directed at those who have dropped the ball.

And just what area was Melbourne superior to any NASCAR show?

Crowd size? Doubtful, check the empty seats that will be visable this week in Malaysia. Over here (Philippines)there has been an all-out ad blitz attempting to sell tickets. I see at least 10 ads per day pr channel on both ESPN Asia, and Star Sports.

    Superior in competition?
NASCAR, more than half the field on the lead lap. F1, 2 cars, at most 5 on the lead lap at the checkers.

Beautiful buxom BABES? Well lets call that even!

Got something to say?
