Villeneuve’s Return To F1

Written by George Katinger · June 9, 2004

Don’t get overly excited, I don’t know anything more than the rest of the world. Jacques has finally stated for the record that he is interested in returning to F1 as a driver.

I would be more impressed if his quote was “I want to win again.” Maybe it’s time to stop being so overly analytical of peoples comments and just take them for what the speaker intends. I’m sure old Jocko doesn’t intend to just ride around for another season getting in his teammates way. Winning should be a priority. Which brings us back to where he could possibly have the opportunity. Williams or Ferrari. I still think Villeneuve’s ego and mouth present a greater risk to team unity rather than the potential to win.

With great pressure to deliver team wins comes the need to take greater chances. Witness the “Technological Leaps” both Williams and McLaren attempted to catch Ferrari this year. Same goes for drivers. While Jacques is a former champion I’m not sure if he can duplicate the feat at another team in a different time. Personally I wouldn’t take the chance.

“Villeneuve: ‘I want to drive again.”

Well LaaDeeDaa so do I,but my days as a figure 8 driver are long over, and so are Jocko’s as anything but a field filler in F1.

He’ll look mighty fine in a Minardi seat.

Damn right Marc! However, I’d rather he not get any seat…even in a Minardi we’ll have to listen to him bitch and whine.

Got something to say?
