Want to Buy An F1 Team? Can You Afford a Dollar?
Written by George Katinger · November 11, 2004
Yes, one dollar is the rumored amount that Red Bull will pay to accquire the Jaguar F1 racing team from the brain trust of Ford Motor Company. A testament to great negotiating or is the sale price overvalued?

I admit when hearing the price of admission to the highest echelon of motor racing I was taken aback. No, I was floored! But thinking about it for a brief moment turned me completely around, to where I wonder if it’s worth a buck. Even a devalued buck! I’m sure Red Bull’s opening position to Ford was along the lines of you pay us X million dollars a year for three years and we’ll take this dog off your hands. You fill in the “X” with the number of your choice.
Regardless of the numbers involved it’s comforting to know there will be a team to pick up the pieces of the latest tragic Ford F1 era, and that Cosworth will still supply engines to whoever wants them. You may now exhale Paul Stoddart! We should have all known that the Jaguar team would survive based on their continuing work on next years car. Someone must have told them there will be a next year!

George you stole my comment. As the page was loading I had also thought of the devalued dollar on the world currency market.
To be honest I think no matter the bucks value, the Jag’s price tag is a true indication that it is a 4 wheeled dung box.
Not so much a dung box, but the nature of F1 as a cash devouring black hole. If you have gangrene you lop off a limb to save your life. Jaguar F1 is nothing more than a money eating disease Ford needs to amputate, regardless of the cost.
