Super Aguri Barred From Istanbul PaddockTransporters for the Super Aguri F1 team were barred from entering the Istanbul paddock by their number one creditor. Honda! A portent of closing down the financially strapped team or a hardball negotiating ploy?
Nick Fry notified Formula One Management that Super Aguri would not be participating in the forthcoming Turkish Grand Prix, and track officials formally blocked their access to the track.
Is this the end of SAF1? Or just another way to close the deal with Weigl Group, the potential buyers? Fry has flat out stated he doesn’t believe the company has the resources to fund and support the team, not to mention paying off the $60 million debt Honda has run up. Here’s Nick’s comment:
He said “It would appear unlikely that a company the size of Weigl is able to support a competitive Formula One team, unless of course there are other partners of which we have not been made aware.”
“Our position is that Honda have given Super Aguri every available bit of support over...

The Mosley Spin Machine Begins To WhirYou didn’t think the FIA special meeting in Paris was scheduled so late without a reason, did you? Max Mosley knows why, and it had nothing to do with getting the voting members to agree on a date.
The June 3 hearing and vote on Max’s tenure as FIA president has everything to do with Max having the time to twist arms, bend ears, and generally apply his “charm” to anyone who will listen. Max has been amazingly quiet the last couple of weeks since the tawdry affair came to light and his admission,...

The Spanish Grand Prix was a convincing statement of which team gained the most from their car improvements over the last three weeks. No doubt, it was Honda and Red Bull!
Kimi Raikkonen had an uneventful and mistake free race as he translated pole into a convincing win. Kimi led every lap (not counting pit stop turnovers) and posted fastest race lap. Teammate Felipe Massa took second place from Fernando Alonso at turn one, lap one, and you could have turned off the TV at that point. Unless of course...

Luca Montezemolo has issued forth with comments relative to Max Mosley’s “personal” predicament. That should give you a clue where he stands.
According to Luca:“I don’t like talking about other people’s personal issues. I prefer not to comment either in my name or Ferrari’s, since there are already too many censors and judges at large.”
But as FIA president, Luca has a more positive opinion:
“If I look at what Max has done these years on the issue of safety,...

With the entire team enroute to Barcelona for this weekend’s Spanish GP, will Super Aguri find their buyer?
Or is Honda just pumping cash to keep any prospective buyer’s interest keen? Honda has stated the team will not race in Barcelona without a written commitment to purchase from any potential buyer. Who that could be is highly speculative, as Paul Stoddardt has openly stated he’ll be back in F1, possibly before the end of this year. I would think Stoddardt would be more interested in the...

In F1 there hasn’t been a more vocal or controversial figure than Paul Stoddart. Not to mention his many confrontations with disgraced FIA front man Max Mosley.
I can no longer lend any further dignity to Max Mosley by calling him the “President” of the FIA. He doesn’t deserve the respect or the title. I just came across an article published by pitpass.com earlier in the week authored by the as always outspoken Mr. Stoddart. It’s worth the read:
pitpass.com: The future of the FIA
Stoddart...
