Busy Day at the Speedway Finds Marco on Top

Marco Andretti topped 226 miles per hour to lead the field on the first day of open practice for the 2008 Indianapolis 500.
Twenty year-old Andretti’s speed came benefit of a tow from rookie Graham Rahal, and bested last year’s pole speed of Helio Castroneves.

Tony Kanaan and Scott Dixon placed second and third-fastest for the six hour session which began at Noon.
Jaime Camara was cleared to return to racing on Wednesday. Dr. Terry Trammell of Indianapolis Methodist Hospital gave Camara the good news near 4 PM on Tuesday. Repairs to the damaged Conquest Racing machine are nearly complete ahead of tomorrow’s session.
Chances of rain are good for Wednesday and Thursday in Indianapolis. The weather is expected to clear for ‘Fast Friday’ later this week and the first day of qualifying on Saturday (May 10th) for the 92nd Greatest Spectacle in Racing.
