Diminutive Racer Proclaims Herself the ‘UnderDog’

From Indy Racing League media reports:

Danica Patrick’s No. 7 Team Motorola car was involved in two on-track bump-and-run incidents before Lap 50, traveled 33 laps on the 2.070-mile Belle Isle course between pit stops, and led nine laps.

When the day was done she could look back and wonder at how much the race depended more on perseverance than speed.

It also gave Patrick a career-best second-place finish

You can’t call yourself an underdog, especially when you drive for a top team. Underdogs are guys like Vitor Meira, and Darren Manning.

Considering the garbage she puts up with just for being a woman in a male dominated sport, she IS an underdog.

She hacks her way to the front based on crappy driving and others mistakes. Hardly a race she should hang her hat on.

gary is right, most of the time she hacks her way to the back. This time she just went in the right direction. And being in a top team hardly makes one an underdog. But perhaps she should hang her hat on this race. Maybe, just maybe, she will see it is not all about pure speed, but gile and thought that will allow her get to the front.
But when all is said and done, Danica will see find a way to loose.
Just think, Indy a couple of years ago, and how hard she had to work to not win that race.

“On Lap 48, Patrick’s car bumped the No. 8 Patron Rahal Letterman Racing car driven by Scott Sharp from the rear, sending it into the Turn 8 tire barrier.”

That’s the kindest description of a driving screw up I’ve ever read. Danica had no business attempting a pass and made a bad mistake which cost Scott Sharp. If another driver did that to her she’d still be squeeling about it.

Hey guys, comments like hack, crappy and screwup are a little harsh. When was the last time you guys climbed into one of those missles and cranked up 150+ mph? Meira, if he was as good as you say would have been signed by a quality team. No one signs up a crappy screwup of a hack to drive their slightly expensive equipment. Sit back, pop a brewski and enjoy the racing.

I hear ya Bob. Lay off the talk about Danica…she can drive and will win. So enjoy the whole race..Detroit was a good race. Trying to pass is part of the excitement

Lets see your driving records. It is good for the sport of racing to have ladies involved other than keeping score and getting the couch potato racers beers. Besides she looks much better on the eyes.

Got something to say?
