de Ferran to retire, Hornish to Penske

Written by Josh Katinger · August 25, 2003

Penske Racing has announced that Gil de Ferran will retire from racing at the end of this season. To no ones amazement he will be replaced at Penske by 2001/2002 IRL Champ Sam Hornish. Winning Indy most likely put the icing on the cake for Gil, not to mention the pair of concussions he received in wrecks this past year. Time to get out while the gettin’ is still good. And now everyone who was freaking out about Sam ditching IRL in favor of NASCAR can just relax…at least for a while…

Lets see, first the Indy 500, maybe twice, than a Nextel Cup or two and Maybe F1, with Roger as an American team owner? What could be better than that!?!?

Got something to say?
