Fifty-three race starter Luyendyk will wait another day to break his duck atop the Indy Lights podium as slower traffic cost him momentum and forced him to yield the lead of the race to Battistini with only twelve laps remaining. To make matters worse an iminent crash brought yellow that would put the field behind the pace car until the 115th and final lap of the contest, offering the Dutchman no hope of reclaiming his position at the front of the field–where he started the race on pole.

Sam Schmidt Motorsports Ana ‘Bia’ Beatriz closed out the race in third position despite being assessed a blocking penalty in-race.

The Indy Lights resume action on July 5th in upstate New York with a two-in-one day double-header at venerable Watkins Glen.
