Target Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon won the Rexall Edmonton Indy on Saturday (July 26th) to extend his lead in the Indy Racing League championship chase to sixty-five points over second-place Helio Castroneves.Dixon drove into the lead late in the race to secure his fifth win of the season, one which was assured when Castroneves went wide in Turn one of the airport-runway circuit while chasing the Indianapolis 500 champion.

The result boosts Dixon further afront of the Championship Points standings with a sixty-five point cushion over Helio Castroneves. No other competitors now are within a hundred points of the New Zealander, who appears to be have the 2008 IndyCar Series championship close at hand with only four points-paying races remaining in the 2008 season.
