Foyt Brings Jeff Simmons Back to Indy 500
Written by Allan Brewer · May 13, 2008
Racing legend A J Foyt likes what he sees in new hire Jeff Simmons, a driver whose promise may now be ready to be validated.
Jeff Simmons was runner-up at Indianapolis in the 2004 Indy Lights Series’ Freedom 100, and was by all accounts a true contender for the championship in the junior league in 2006.
With the untimely death of Paul Dana, Jeff was inducted into the IndyCar Series at Rahal Letterman only to depart slightly more than eighteen months later.
Now he’s back, readying for the world’s greatest race, under the banner of racing legend A J Foyt.

The move could be a watershed event for Simmons. An impressive finish and a renewed profile in the IndyCar Series could boost him back into the big leagues as teams search for skilled drivers for the mid-season stretch of oval races on the Indy Racing League schedule.
