Ganassi Racing’s Dan Wheldon Repeats at Kansas 300

Kanaan Fumes Over Late-Race Traffic
The 2005 Indy 500 champion becomes the first two-time IndyCar Series winner at Kansas Speedway.
Ironically, the victory was Wheldon’s first since winning at this racetrack one year ago.
Wheldon held off a surging Tony Kanaan of Andretti Green Racing over the last ten laps of the race.

Kanaan was victimized by lapped traffic at the end of the race, when his pursuit of Wheldon was white-hot. He fumed in the pressroom that “What goes around comes around” of the delay that cost him a chance to push the Englishman to the checkered flag.
The IndyCar Series goes idle for ten days as the teams move to the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway to open up the month of May with rookie orientation on May 4th. As many as fourteen cars and drivers will spend the first three days the racetrack is open learning their way around the 2.5 mile oval, a number (thanks to unification of open-wheel racing) not seen at Indy in years.

Marty Roth nails a crewman with his wing in the pits, Milka Duno sideways on pit road., Will Power running up the backside of a slower car. Rookie orientation for the 500 better be very thorough or there could be mayhem in the month of May at Indy.
And how badly did DIxon get hosed with his pit stop? He’s been the fastest guy for the last two races and has no wins to show for it.
