Sarah’s back…again!
Fisher Redo at Chicago, Vitor Remains a Panther in ‘07
Dreyer & Reinbold announced Sunday evening that Indy Racing League driver Sarah Fisher will pilot the team’s Escort Number 5 Dallara/Honda/Firestone in the concluding race of the 2006 season.
Dreyer&Reinbold: Sarah to Run Chicago
Team co-owner Dennis Reinbold said “We are looking forward to Chicago. We will be working hard between now and then to get Sarah a very good race car that we can go make some noise with.”
Fisher’s twelfth-place qualifying and twelfth-place finishing efforts over the weekend at Kentucky Speedway for the Meijer Indy 300 were high points in the team’s season, which has now seen four different drivers in the garage. Ryan Briscoe has most recently been the D&R driver and will return for the next IRL event at Infineon Raceway on August 27th. Al Unser, Jr. and Buddy Lazier doubled for the team’s two-cart effort at Indianapolis on Memorial Day.
The Indianapolis Star is reporting that Vitor Meira is a sure bet to return to Panther Racing for the 2007 IndyCar season.
Indianapolis Star: Panther Plans 2007 Campaign
“One hundred percent Vitor will drive for us next season.” said team co-owner John Barnes.
The news is doubly good for IRL fans as the news confirms the Panther team, which has struggled to stay alive and found sponsorship from Revive Beverages only at mid-season, will prowl again.

Eddie outlasts Nigel for win in wet British GP!
No, you are not riding with Marty McFly, whisked into your past.
You’re simply watching GP Masters racing, in this case at venerable Silverstone, where former IRL driver and current Indy Pro Series team owner Eddie Cheever took the win on Sunday.
F1 Racing Live: Cheever Victorious
“I kept looking in my mirrors thinking ‘I know Nigel’s going to be up here any minute’, but then I saw him sitting in the garage on one of the big TV screens and thought ‘Okay, I have a crack at this today’!”
At 48 years of age, Eddie was the oldest driver in the Indy 500 this year, and if he had won, would have become the oldest winner ever.
The next IndyCar Series event is the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma at 3:30 PM (EDT) on August 27th at Infineon Raceway. The race will be telecast live by ESPN and broadcast by the IMS Radio Network. A Spanish-language telecast of the race will be carried by ESPN Deportes. The IMS Radio Network broadcast also is carried on XM Satellite Radio channel 145 “IndyCar Racing” and www.indycar.com.
