Marco Watch: Quality Time with Dad

Written by Allan Brewer · February 16, 2006

Kids love going to work with dad. What if that work is racing around a speedway at two hundred-plus miles per hour? Now that is family values!

Marco Andretti joined Paul Dana at Homestead/Miami Speedway for private testing and both completed rookie testing successfully in anticipation of close-quarters racing when the Indy Racing League season begins there March 26th. Also on-track with Marco was his father, Michael Andretti, who returns from a one-year retirement this season.

Call it what it is, child abuse! Considering his ability to have a Piquet jnr like family funded junior career, he should be doing a season of Atlantics. Alternatively listen to Grandpa & go to Europe for F3 or GP2.Why fast track the kid when you have the funds to groom him, throwing him on to ovals for a learning year is frankly dangerous, I hope he does not injure himself or another driver.

Item #2, Michael is out of retirement? Someone save the series now…

Got something to say?
