IndyCar’s Developmental League Takes Track at Noon Saturday

The newly renamed Firestone Indy Lights season commences with practice and qualifying on Friday (March 28th) and a 100-mile race at 12:30 PM EDT Saturday from Homestead Miami Speedway.

The favorites to win the Firestone Firehawk Cup awarded the series’ champion at year-end are Sam Schmidt Motorsports’ Richard Antinucci and AFS Racing Andretti Green’s Raphael Matos.

Twenty-five cars (tying an Indy Lights record for most) will take the grid on Saturday, aiming to nick some of the nearly $200,000 purse.

Among them are two women drivers and many of the top runners in the Indy Pro Series 2007 season.

The race is available via live audio/video streaming on IndyCar.com; with delayed broadcast on ESPN 2 on April 3rd at 2 PM EDT.
