Money Turned Laps at IMS. So How Was Your Day?
Written by Money CJ · July 18, 2007
We flew in and out of INDY today. And we turned four laps in a Dallara at IMS in between. In a few days, we’ll be posting a video documentary of today’s most excellent proceedings at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for your enjoyment. Suffice to say it was absolutely, unequivocally AWESOME. And we are in total love and in awe of the good people at Sinden Racing for offering up the Indy Racing Experience. People, you need to do this. Observations and pix after the jump…
OK, we’re gonna save the good stuff for the video, but here are a few observations upon reflection of our most awesome experience:
-Firesuits are hot. Really, really hot.
-It is a long haul from pit lane back onto the track.
-The backstretch is more reminiscent of a country road than the most famous racetrack in the World. Seriously. I was thinking I might see a Cow.
-The cars really do ’stick’ to the track (well, when things are going right, at least). It’s unreal.
-G-force? Yeah. Totally. (and we weren’t anywhere near the 220+speed that Our Heroes roll at…extra mad respek to all of them).
-Being on-track is nothing like I expected. Laps go so fast. You are basically laying down in the car. INCHES from the ground. Eff!
-Once you are rolling, you forget about the heat. You forget about everything. Adrenaline takes over.
-The Indy Racing Experience folks are totally awesome. And totally safety-conscious. They work hand-in-hand with track officials to make it all work.
Again, we’ll have more soon, but here are a few delightful pix for your enjoyment…

This is Shonda. She is awesome, and will probably be the one you speak with when you call to schedule your own Indy Racing Experience.

We’re pretty sure that this man is not to be fucked with…

Meet Cal and Betty. They are awesome. Like, really, really awesome and I don’t have time to get into the many reasons why just now. Just understand that they are awesome and move on, ok?

This is Brian. Our Videographer. We love him and you will see why in just a few days…

In the meantime…STEP OFF!

HANDSOME…No??

It’s blurry ’cause I’m going like 500 MPH. Sorry.

I made up for the fact that I didn’t get to kiss the Yard of Bricks by kissing a delicious Miller Lite at the Flag Room Lounge. This was the best day ever…stand by for some wicked video action…!

BTW - love the pic of the red safety truck at the ready in case you get loose.
OMG. Money went to IMS and BLEW UP. It’s a Festival of Awesomeness. Better get yourself some hero cards and a Sharpie.
Wicked cool, Ceej.
Awesome CJ. Definitely envious!
haha
looks like a ton of fun.
glad you got to go green.
Did the Petty driving exp.at the brickyard. The walls whistle and did not see a cow on the back strech just a couple of golf carts, By the way asked my wife to marry me on hte yard of Brick.. ED
I’m jonesing or your tasty photos and vid from your world-altering laps at IMS. Saaaaay, maybe Bobby Rahal saw ya and
said, “We don’t need Jeff. Yesterday’s news. Money is our man in 2008. We’ll get this Hunter guy to fill in.”
We’ll turn around and there will be Rick Mears
agreeing to serve as your driver coach. I assume
you’ll say no to taking over Milka’s ride since the main sponsor wants all Americans to die in the streets like pigs.
Did the run last week– as you say it was AWESOME.
ran the Andretti school last year at Chicagoland- it was the first taste behind the wheel of an Indy car- It is an experience that really makes you appreciate the talents of the drivers for the tight quaters in the cars they endure for hours at SPEED with TRAFFIC. Running at Indy is a special experience– after all, it is INDY
A lifetime dream come true– an experience and thrill I’ll never forget. I’m still on cloud 9- no, Higher !!!
Did you meet Danica? You are right, Betty and Cal ARE awesome!
You are VERY right and you are also VERY wrong!
Everyone associated with the Indy Experience are awesome people!
The cars though, are TURDS! Your average speed is like 70 MPH! The tour bus can pass you! It is cool to be out on the historic track but you can do that in your own car on community day and go damn near as fast too!
Sorry Dude it ain’t that cool! Been there done that!
Sounds terrific, except for the suckish, weak, watery beer at the end!
You seem like a guy who’d drink a decent lager or ale….:)
awesome, wicked, eff
you da man! Betty and Cal rock. They are so wicked.
Dude, need some sponsors on your chariot. How ’bout the Beatles “White Album”?
OMG Dude! Did you pee your pants? LOL! Cal and Betty look like they own the place.
