Rahal Letterman On The Rise

Andretti Green Racing may outnumber them two to one and lead the points battle to date, but Rahal Letterman Racing and Buddy “Minute” Rice are the ones to watch.

motorsport.com: Rahal Letterman Racing - a team to beat?

Tony Kanaan may hold a 57 point margin in the points race, but does anyone doubt that he will come under severe attack over the remaining six races of the season? And will Tony overcome the trauma of following team orders and allowing Buddy to pass on the misguided notion that he would have to pit for fuel? Talk about a major strategic faux pas! I don’t care what the indicators are, with ten laps to go someone (Michael Andretti, Kim Green?) decides to let your closest point rival have a free pass? No wonder Tony was so ticked after the race.

Any way this article isn’t about AGR, it’s about RLR, their two no-name (prior to this year) drivers and why they can win the championship. Is their a more deserving likable guy out there than Buddy Rice? Or more talented? Ok, I’ll give you Sam Hornish. But he hasn’t performed this year as everyone expected. Veitor Meira has been outstanding as well but laying 7th in the standings makes him a real long shot. With six to go, there is a lot more drama to the IRL season than that other open wheel series! Whod’a thunk it!!
