Rice Cooks At Michigan

Written by George Katinger · August 1, 2004

Buddy Rice led only ten laps of the Michigan Indy 400 but they were the only ones that counted. The last lap and the preceding nine.

crash.net.com: Rice steals Michigan 400 from Kanaan.

Tony Kanaan and his AGR 7-Eleven Honda Dallara seemed to be the class of the field as they led most of the day with apparent ease. The AGR pit crew also performed flawlessly for Tony, consistently maintaining his position after every stop.

Letterman Rahal and Buddy Rice followed a well executed race strategy of staying in touch with the leaders but not showing their true speed. At one point Rice was shuffled back to 12th during a pit stop and easily clawed his way back to the top three. It was a sign of things to come.

Buddy may have created controversy amongst his fellow drivers by openly
stating what all drivers feel and think. They will win the championship! Tony Kanaan was so upset he hopped aboard his scooter and tore out of the pits without granting an interview to anyone. Final standings and more quotes to follow!!
