11:49 AM: My posse threw a birthday party for me last night, and I am afflicted with what just might be a life-altering hangover. Having said that, I am happy to report that it seems that I am indeed able to function at a level that shall not prohibit me from bringing you another edition of the mighty mighty LiveBlog.
We’ll be back shortly and we’ll keep it going until the Honda 200 at Mid-Ohio is in the books. To play along, just get some beer and hit your refresh button every few minutes or so to keep up. Also, feel free to IM us at SoDamnIndy with your own keen observations…back soon!
1:20 PM: First beer of the day. Had to be done, as my condition was only worsening by the hour. Ready to go green here in just a few. We must admit that we’re still a little moody over the whole Jeff Simmons thing and our general disdain for road courses is well known. Nevertheless, we’re going to try to cheer ourselves up and have a good time. We also feel the need to give a shout out to one Danica Patrick for the stellar job in qualifying which resulted in her starting second on the grid this afternoon. Still don’t see her winning the thing, but still–quality driving indeed. And as for you conspiracy theorists out there talking about AGR and ‘Team orders”…we say settle down cause that’s just not how TK and Dario roll.

1:30 PM: As if the hangover wasn’t enough, MoneyMom is here, yakking away. Making me mental. She’s bugging the shit out of me demanding to know where Mid-Ohio is, cause she’s from Ohio. I tell her it’s in the middle of Ohio, DUH! She wants to know where in the middle of Ohio. If any of you readers have this information, could you shoot me an e-mail so she’ll shut the hell up? 1:32 PM: Oop! ABC announces the coverage has switched to ESPN, campers…change that channel!
1:37 PM: Uh, ESPN is featuring Bowling. Outdoor Bowling, which is actually somewhat interesting to us. WHERE’S THE RACE???
1:40 PM: Jeffy from MyNameIsIRL is reporting that IMS radio is saying that the start is delayed. So we are going to sit here and watch the dude that looks like Eddie Van Halen bowl outdoors, I guess. Oh! ESPN II has Hot Chick Softball action! I like!
1:43 PM: SUPERSTU, similarly hungover, phones to report that his arrival is delayed. Heh.

2:45 PM: Stu and I crack new beers. We’re at 31 of 85 and after much pitting it’s Kanaan, Dixon, Helio, Dario and Sam. TK has to pit so that lead is about over. It’s Scott’s show now.
3:03 PM: And Sam’s in the wall at lap 46. Clearly frustrated thinking he can get back into the thing. Not looking all that likely, but we’ll see…(Update: we were wrong! He’s back on track–nice)
3:15 PM: At 53 it’s TK, Helio, Sharp, Dixon. This race is now somewhat interesting…There’s passing and stuff!
3:22 PM: Vitor out. Sigh. Danica is driving her ass off.
3:23 PM: TK pits with almost a 10 second lead. Last stop of the day for TK. Stu and I discuss shitting ourselves if he pulls this off.
3:29 PM: Emma Davies–Scott Dixon’s fiancee and all–gets air. Stu is in love–Iceman better watch his back…
3:36 PM: 13 to go and this thing can go a number of ways at this point–pretty exciting, I must say.
3:39 PM: Pit Stops done and the leader is Dario! ABC cuts to commercial w/ no side-by side. Stu says I sound like Marco on the radio right now.
3:40 PM: Shit, Scratch that. Dario still has to pit.
3:41 PM: 4.8 second stop isn’t quite enough to keep Dario in the lead. Looking like this one’s in the bag for the Birthday Boy…
3:47 PM: Dixon dominating with 4 to go. We are done here, my friends…

You hate road courses and like to party. You are a great person to write a racing blog. Just another roundy-round fan who wouldn’t know a true race if it bit him you know where. Give us a real fan of motorsport to write a blog on the IRL. I am disappointed with fastmachines and this garbage.

If you knuckleheads thought the race was boring, have you read the trite shit Money just posted? I hope FM keeps you here as long as they dare, only to appreciate real dialog/opinions found elsewhere.
Most racing fans respect the opinions of other fans, right or wrong, but this is just sophomoric high school drivel at best. I’m sure you amused yourselves as you were click-clacking away, but it ain’t nearly as humorous as you thought at the time.
So much initial promise, (MoneyCJ’s initial postings) and such marginal results. Cut down on the booze as you watch/type, you may have a chance at posting some clear relevant thoughts.

I have to agree with the comments here also. I usually come to fastmachines.com for all things racing but that blog entry is so sophomoric and anti-motor sport that I really think will get my news somewhere else. You know, from someplace that actually enjoys the sport of well… motor racing of all types. I found the Mid-Ohio race to be quite enjoyable and a nice balance to the oval racing in the series. If you are going to continue an IRL blog, please have a true motor sports enthusiast write the blog and send Money CJ back to fetching beverages for the rest of the team. Maybe that will hold his interest for a few minutes

My friends, ‘Money CJ’ is basically a cartoon character. It’s mostly satire, and much of what is posted by me under that name should be taken with tongue-firmly-in-cheek.
If you don’t find the LiveBlogs amusing and cannot take them in the spirit which they are meant, then don’t read them. It’s that easy.
Somewhat stunned by the comments, I went back and re-read the LiveBlog (which, please understand, I literally write as the race is happening–it’s all really a knee-jerk kind of thing). I came to the conclusion that I was indeed too hard on Ryan H-R and Bob Rahal. Sorry. Jeff Simmons is someone I admire a great deal and I guess I went a little overboard with that for personal reasons. I have since edited the post.
Also, I am sorry that I am not a big fan of Road Courses, but I don’t really see that changing, no matter how many times you call me an asshole.
Sarcasm and attempts at humor aside, I love this series and I love these drivers. And I love working with Josh and my colleagues at FM. If you don’t like what I write, please hold it against me (i.e, skip my posts) and not them. At the end of the day, we’re all kind of in this for the same reasons.

Lighten up, Francis. Humor. It’s a difficult concept. There are tons and tons and tons of posts out there that spend 2,393 words discussing wing angles and 7,099 words of Dungeons & Dragons-like dissertation on how Tony George is really (spoiler alert!) Voldemort. If that’s what you’re about (and there’s nothing wrong with that), then Money’s stuff is probably not for you. Feel free to disregard. There is plenty of other hyper-serious stuff on fastmachines and elsewhere to give your time and attention. I think Money’s stuff is funny and entertaining. So I read it. Jussayin.’
Hey Money, I am the guy that started this “hate campaign”. You have to understand, those of us that love road racing find it under attack all the time from you “roundy-round” lovers and are passionate in defending the type of racing we love. Fastmachines is an excellent site and covers all motorsport and I couldn’t believe that I was reading yet another attack on road courses on a Website I hold in high esteem. You don’t have to like ‘em but please don’t diss this type of racing (and its fans) in your posts. I get the money character and enjoy the humor for the most part. :-) Thanks for replying to the strangest flame thread I have read in quite a while.
Point taken, Rob. Was never my intention to be insulting. FM is about all kinds of racing and attracts alll kinds of race fans. I’ll keep that in mind going forward.
