The Stone Temple Pilots have been selected to provide the headline entertainment at this year’s Indianapolis 500 Carb Day (Friday, May 23rd).
The group, whose big hit “Plush” won the Best Hard Rock Performance Grammy in 1994, is made up by Scott Weiland on vocals, Dean and Robert DeLeo on guitars, and Eric Kretz on the drums.
“Miller Lite Carb Day is one of the highlights of the month of May, filled with great racing and non-stop entertainment, and Stone Temple Pilots will bring the excitement to another level,” said Joie Chitwood, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president and chief operating officer. “We are thrilled to have such a legendary band play the Miller Lite Carb Day concert.”
Carb Day marks the completion of the pre-race festivities leading up to the famous Memorial Day race; and also starts the weekend of racing in Indianapolis with the Indy Pro Series Freedom 100 (the most sought-after race trophy of the year for IndyCar’s junior league drivers).
The concert is free with paid $10 admission to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway grounds on Carb Day, which long ago secured its place as the midwest’s most popular springtime “coming-out” party after the long Hoosier winter. Last year’s crowd of over one hundred thousand was treated with a performance by Kidd Rock and a victory by Alex Lloyd on the 2.5 mile oval.
Tickets are available online at Indianapolis Motor Speedway or may be purchased the day of the event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
