Given the huge time difference between EST and Japan, the IRL race in Motegi has been run. It’s over and I know who won. Web savvy surfers and others in the know may have the final stats as well. I, however, will wait until after the telecast to post what I know.
The race will be telecast by ESPN at noon (EDT) on April 30 with a live simulcast of the race at 11:59 p.m. (EDT) on April 29 by ESPN360.com. The race will also be broadcast by the IMS Radio Network at 11:30 p.m. (EDT) on April 29.

Hmmm.. should I tell? It was broadcast live here in the Philippines via my Satellite and the Japanese channel.
Hmmm… na I’ll wait to post it. But I have a good entry on a hot, hot Japanese racing driver if you care to have a peek. She looks good in a bikini also.
The race broadcast is over in the US. Nice job by Wheldon taking another win, but the highlight was a VERY impressive drive by Patrick, leading for many early laps and bringing it home for a 4th place finish.
She looks like she may be the first woman to win an IRL race if Rahal gives her capable cars.
NO ONE will win a race in the ARL (Andretti Racing League) untill the cars of AGR are no longer a factor. Let’s talk competition; does anyone know how many cars finished on the lead lap? Five. Second place came in 3 seconds behind, third and fourth were over 20 seconds behind and Danica almost 30 seconds later. How many cars DNF’d? Eight. The remaining fourteen cars looked lonely out there at the end. Not to mention the empty stands. Motegi may be a large track and may have had a large turnout, but it appeared to be sparsely attended.
The race was a fuel milage affair, so the number of cars on the lead lap was reduced by virtue of teams either stopping to top off, or running out of fuel just prior to the white flag.
Also, the intervals between the positions at the finish were all skewed by the fact that everyone was just trying to nurse their cars home without running out of fuel.
Fuel milage races are, by definition, boring. Maybe someone should enter a Prius in a few races next season.
I know a couple of champ car drivers looking for a ride…
At $2.25+ a gallon for regular, I now run fuel milage events back and forth to work every day; I don’t need to see it featured in my racing interests also. Wasn’t that a slam against the Champ Cars last year? Has TG brought both road circuits AND fuel milage racing to his league? Isn’t that guy capable of ANY original thoughts?!?!
Now you know why Andretti/Green has been so successful in the IRL. Don’t tell the other struggling Champ Car teams, they’ll all defect.
Yea, come to think of it, Andretti last year, Penske wins the 500 two, three years in a row? Ganassi and Dixon have won the title, who was the last IRL regular to win the title, Hornish in ‘02? Who was the last IRL regular to win Indy?
I’d look it up, but I’m too lazy.
I think it was B. Rice last year. Prior to that… E. Cheever? (It still pains me to think that HE won a ‘500′).
Yea, but Buddy drives for Rahal, another CC defector. But seeing as how Buddy is an “Original” IRL man, I’ll have to split that hair and give you the “W”. I’ll go one step further though, who was the last original IRL driver to win Indy with an IRL original team? Now you got my curiosity cooking, I’ll have to look it up later!
OK, I think we have to go back to the “original” IRL ‘500′ race and say Buddy Lazier, then Eddie. Arie ran in CART/USAC no?
