Rumor: Is Nicki Hayden headed to Ducati in 2009?
The MotoGP series has another off weekend coming up as the teams prepare to go to China, but an obscure rumor has surfaced that suggests that Nikki Hayden might be headed to Ducati in 2009. Guerin Green of the Cherry Creek News reports on rumors from Italy that the Kentucky Kid might make the jump next year. Apparently the scenario would involve a bunch of musical chairs with either Andrea Dovizioso or Marco Melandri moving into Hayden’s ride, and Hayden joining Casey Stoner to create a Ducati super-team.
Green’s report seems to be the lone story about this rumor, so read at your own risk.
Toseland Confident
Highly touted Brit, James Toseland is in the news. He says he is feeling confident and sure he will break the ice and find himself on the podium before season’s end. The way he has been riding, it isn’t out of the question. Toseland doesn’t seem to be in the elite group of riders right now, but he has been solidly in the top half of the field and has been in and around the top five.
Move over Toseland, the UK loves Lorenzo
James Toseland’s move up to MotoGP has been a fairly big story for UK bike fans, but from the sounds of things, Jorge Lorenzo is creating a buzz of his own. LondonBikers.com is ga-ga over Lorenzo, and has announced that “A Star Is Born” in their feature which you can read here.
MotoGP website facelift
If you haven’t stopped by MotoGP.com lately, now might be a good time to check in. They’ve had a major site design upgrade, and it looks pretty nice. They still won’t let you watch video highlights without paying for access, which is pretty lame. It is already difficult enough to find MotoGP coverage on TV, so it would be great for fans to be able to check in on the website. They must get a good number of subscribers, but I’m not paying real money for access to video highlights.
