Rossi prevails again at Czech GP
Written by Scott Keller · August 18, 2008
The MotoGP bikes took the track today in the Czeck Republic in what was destined to be a rematch of the Rossi vs. Stoner rematch from the Red Bull GP at Laguna Seca. And for the most part, fans were not let down.
Stoner and Rossi started in the first and second positions respectively and after things settled down after a start where Rossi got shuffled back into third. But after a few laps into the race, the race turned into a two-man battle.
Stoner looked to have the upper hand, and held at least a one-second lead over Rossi. But in a “Deja Vu” moment on Lap 6, Stoner faltered and made a mistake the cost him the race. The Aussie dumped his Ducati on the exit of a corner, and basically handed the race to Rossi. Rossi was able to capitalize, and finish first. Stoner was able to get his bike re-started, but quickly retired from the race.
This development give Rossi a huge upper hand in the series standings, and looks poised to win the championship.
Below are the results and series standings following today’s results.
