The Bump Heard ’round the NationIn the few hours that have elapsed since the “incident” of the closing laps of the “Guy Whose Name I Don’t Remember Anymore” 500 at Richmond, I have surmised quite a few things.
I don’t even need to explain what “the incident” is. Everyone knows.
It is really, really not wise to attempt to defend Kyle Busch.
No one will remember that Denny Hamlin had the rest of the field crushed under his heel for ¾ of the race. People will only remember that he brought out “that” caution.
Winning this race will sort of be like winning at Homestead when you are not about to become the Sprint Cup Champion. No one will remember who went to Victory Lane. Clint who???
All that being said, this was by far the most entertaining race of the season. We had poor decision-making, high drama, hurt feelings, outstanding plot twists, and most of all, crushed dreams. Did you see Dale Jr.’s interview with FOX after the race? I really thought he was going to fall weeping into Krista Voda’s arms....

Double Clutchin’-A Few More Things About RichmondAfter last Saturday night’s Crown Royal 400, there has really only been one story all week, and of course that was the shenanigans of the last several laps; the Kyle Busch/Dale Jr. fiasco. That subject has been analyzed to death, and honestly there’s not much left to say about the incident, other than that in many (Junior) fans’ minds, something underhanded happened, and you are not going to convince them otherwise. That statement being made, there was much more that happened...

NASCAR tries to include a couple of short tracks as they meander across the country each summer. If Kyle Busch had been visiting a local short track and taken out the most popular driver with reckless driving he probably would have been punted through a wall during next week’s hot laps.
This isn’t the first time Kyle did this in ‘08. He also took Johnny Benson out of the lead at Martinsville in the Craftsman Truck event a few weeks ago. The Fox TV crew is amazed at how well Kyle handle’s...

Of course I’m talking about Kyle Busch’s crashing of Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in the final laps at Richmond. To answer the above question: Of course he did.
Kyle Busch lost any credibility with me a long time before Saturday night’s bumper car play with D-88. If this were any other driver (not with the last name Busch) I’d be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I don’t buy that the car was that loose; it was too much of a coincidence, and even the folks in the...

The race at Richmond last night proved to be a big old snooze fest for 3/4 of the night, with Denny Hamlin leading almost every single lap (381 of 400, to be exact). Unfortunately for him, though, he didn’t lead the lap that actually counted, after having a tire fall apart with less than 50 laps to go. This set up one of the most exciting race endings we’ve seen all year, opening up the door for a three-car battle between Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr, and Clint Bowyer. If you’ve been watching...

First off, a thank you to Josh and the good folks here at FastMachines, for giving me the opportunity to talk a little NASCAR with you fine folks. But rather than jump right in with opinions about tonight’s race, I thought it might be a good idea to let you fine readers know a little bit about me, and let you decide for yourself whether or not you want to read these articles in the future (if there is a future, I mean, hey, the folks here could come to the realization that I suck and toss...
