And The Winner Of The Sirius At The Glen is…

…Dale Earnhardt Jr. At least that’s the way I’m seeing it, and for some sound reasons.
The-Leader.com: Daytona champ confident to finish Sirius at The Glen
Earnhardt and the #8 Bud team have tested at road courses this year, due to their middling finishes in prior seasons. That, I believe, and his other road racing experience has given him new found confidence in turning right and left in competition.
Not to mention pure desire and a lot of heart.
“I felt good, physically, in the race car at Indianapolis,” he said. “I still have some open wounds on my legs that haven’t healed yet, but they didn’t give me any problems. The burns might’ve hurt a little, but the adrenaline was pumping, and I was driving my guts out trying to get us a good finish.”
Driving with open wounds, discomfort and pain, to keep your position in the top ten are not the indicators of a spoiled kid. Or someone along for the ride. Junior knows the closer to the points lead he is for the last ten races the better his chances of winning the prize. I think he’ll make a big “I’m back” statement by winning the Serius at the Glen this weekend.

If Junior wins at Watkins Glen, it would be a huge momentum changer for him. His team needs to re-gel before heading into the final races.
To many right turns for him!
Come on Dave, he won’t be driving a ‘vette and if he clears the warm up lap he’ll do well.
I love watching Boris Said and Scott Pruett drive the Cup road races. Along with the Gordons, they can make the Cup cars look almost graceful.
But Junior has been good enough lately to at least be competitive, run in the front, and put himself in a position to have a shot at the win if he gets a couple of lucky breaks.
Last year he started 11th and finished 11th in Sonoma, and he started 6th and finished 3rd at the Glen.
