Brickyard Notes & Quotes

Thanks to the teams and manufacturers, here is a collection of notes and quotes from drivers and team members after Sunday’s Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. Jimmie Johnson dominated the day, capturing his first race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and his fourth of the 2006 season after he captured the season-opening Daytona 500, followed by races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway.

Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe’s Monte Carlo SS, captured the victory in the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. The win is his fourth of the 2006 season, and he became the second driver in history to win both the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 in the same year.

Starting in the fifth position, Johnson rallied from a flat tire on lap 39 of the 160-lap race while running in the third position. After dropping to 39th in the running order, Johnson battled his way through the field to emerge back in the top-10 by the halfway point of the event.

The win extended Johnson’s lead in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series (NNCS) standings with five races leading into the Chase for the Championship.

Johnson’s victory was the eighth for Chevrolet at IMS
