Dale Earnhardt Inc. has announced that its prodigal son Dale Earnhardt, Jr. has finally inked a 5-year deal to drive the #8 Budweiser Chevy for the company founded by his step-mother Teresa and his legendary father.

“Dale (Sr.) and I built this organization with a long term plan in place,” Teresa said. “Dale Jr. has always been an intricate part of that plan and this agreement represents our commitment to one another in reaching the goal of winning championships.”

This is the first contract Earnhardt, Jr. has ever held while driving in NASCAR’s top series.

“This is the first time I have had a contract in four years,” Dale Jr. said “We had a hand shake and that was sufficient. But, in today’s business world you need written agreements and now we have one. It was an interesting process that was very educational. What it really came down to was Teresa and myself being in the same place at the same time and sitting down to talk about it. Once that happened, it was taken care of in no time at all. ”

Earnhardt, Jr., 29, has won eight NASCAR Winston Cup Series races and two Busch Series championships with Dale Earnhardt Inc.
