DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - NASCAR officials announced Wednesday that Dale Earnhardt Jr, driver of the No, 8 Budweiser Winston Cup Chevrolet, has been cleared to drive in Sunday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Earnhardt was briefly unconscious following a crash last Sunday at Dover International Speedway and, according to NASCAR policy, had to undergo a physical examination to receive clearance to compete.

The examination revealed no persistent injuries and he was cleared to compete in Sunday’s EA Sports 500 Winston Cup race.

Earnhardt has won the last four races at the huge 2.66-mile tri-oval Talladega Superspeedway.
